10 PS Vita games worth playing that I believe are underrated. (+5 Honourable mentions)

I’m a HUGE Vita girly, it’s my absolute favourite console of all time. And if you’re anything like me I always enjoy researching and hunting down new games to try. Unfortunately, all the articles online and on YouTube always suggest the same games; Unit 13, Minecraft, Wipeout 2048, Gravity Rush, CoD, blah blah blah, etc.

Don’t get me wrong however, there were several games that I thoroughly enjoyed playing that came from these lists. Severed for example was heavily mentioned, and I ended up binging and devouring the game in two days straight. I freaking loved it. The visuals were vibrant, the plot was fun to unfold, the use of the touch screen was (in my opinion) extremely entertaining and made the game far more interesting to play. I felt like I was using the PS Vita to its full potential (gaming wise).

Saying that, there are several PS Vita games that go underrated which I feel deserve far more attention than they get. So, here is a list of 10 PlayStation Vita games I highly suggest you give a try.

1. Wolf Among Us -

   • Great for choice based actions and great storytelling, especially if you like fairy tale references). I love the comic book style of the game graphics.

2. Oceanhorn -

   • Reminds me a lot of Zelda, if you enjoy that type of puzzle, adventure game it's definitely worth giving a try. A bit of adventure, a bit of fighting, a bit of character progression an upgrades, and a lot of great puzzles.

3. Shantae: HGH -

   • Reminds me very much of the old classic Gameboy games, really fun. Great background music. The plot line is enjoyable. Really enjoyed the fighting game style and the different shape shifting effects available that are needed to progress in the game.

4. Steamworld Dig -

   • Could not put it down! Absolutely incredible game. Never thought I'd love a game about digging. Play as a robot in a world of robots in a 2D platform Western. Digging to make money, digging for protagonist upgrades, digging for story progression... Dig. Dig. Dig. And yet, I couldn't stop! Don't get me wrong, I love Minecraft which also involves digging, however, this game is purely digging, where as Minecraft also involves crafting, potion making, building. Steamworld Dig is just... digging. But make it fun!

5. LEGO The Hobbit -

   • If you want something a little more chill, fun, silly. It's actually rather enjoyable. Follows the movies plot line. I loved unlocking new characters and testing out their fighting style. I also really enjoyed adventuring and walking through the wonderful world of Middle-Earth. The cut scenes are always funny, had quite a few good chuckles.

6. Active Neurons -

   • Great puzzle game to make you think and work those brain neurons, is that's the type of thing you prefer.

7. Little Kings Story -

   • A great little RPG. I had never played a game with this type of game style and mode. Throwing around the warriors in my army was rather fun and funny. I love the game progression, and the conversations between characters add to the game.

8. Talisman -

   • It's really cool to have a board game available on a handheld console that plays against the computer. Great for long travels.

9. Devious Dungeons -

   • I'm not usually into 2D platform games, but Devious Dungeons was incredibly fun and addictive to play.

10. Legend of the Skyfish -

    • Loved the story of the game, the video game visuals were stunningly beautiful to see and experience. Pretty simple, straight forward game that you can complete in an afternoon but still very fun to play.
