For bucket list goal #74, I was passing through Leicester Square, London, and got myself cartooned. Unlike the rest of my goals this one ended up being slightly impromptu, but it was nice because it happened to be Georgia and I's anniversary celebration which made it that much more significant. I've always wondered what other people think of me and I've always been interested in seeing myself through other's eyes. Despite one day liking to have an actually picture or painting made of me in order to be able to have a preview into that perspective, I have also always wanted to see myself as a cartoon. When I was younger I watched all sorts of cartoons such as; The Looney Tunes, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Labratory, Rugrats, Arthur, The Wild Thornberries, etc. On several occasions I wondered what I would look like if I were to randomly appear on the shows. So not only did I get to (sort of) see myself through the eyes of somebody else, but I also got see what I looked like if I were a cartoon.
I had to sit in a short stool for around 20 minutes while the caricaturist glared at me intently, and place his charcoal crayons to paper and turned me into a caricature. People walked past and sometimes stopped to watch what was going on which made me feel highly self-conscious. But, after a few moments of this occurring I started to get used to situation and it wasn't as nerve raking as it had been at the start of it all. From this experience I learnt that, firstly, just because people will stare doesn't not mean that I have to feel self-conscious or that they may be judging me. I don't know what people are thinking, but I do know that we are all intrinsically curious beings and it is possible that people may be looking purely out of intrigue. Secondly, I learnt that seeing yourself through the eyes of another being is a lot more beautiful than seeing yourself through your very own eyes.
