Looking for change

People now a days expect outcomes without any input. A weight loss without a diet. Money without employment. A change of temperament without a change of heart. As Charles T. Munger once said "This world is not yet a crazy enough place to reward a bunch of undeserving people." If you want something you must work for it. If you want change you must create it. It is important for people to remember that the world is forever evolving and we too were born to evolve. Things arise in our lives which will knock us down and put us in a low place: a bully, an illness, insufficient amounts of money or a death in the family. We were built for change, there is no need to remain in emotional torment. Everything we go through is a lesson, we must rise from our depression. We've become such a helpless species, we expect those around us to help us, we become so self-centered in our pain we become blind to others whom may also be needing support, others whom may be worse off than we are. If I learnt anything from going to church is that we can lift ourselves from helping others. Happiness never was a destination, it's the journey. If we desire to return to a happier more balanced state of mind and emotion we must develop the habit of reaching out constantly. Selflessness is the key to the door of a new life.
The other day I was reading a book called 'The Art of Happiness' by Dalai Lama & Howard Cutler. And I came across this sentence that read "hope is based on the belief that while attaining genuine and lasting happiness is not easy, it nevertheless can be done. Underlying all the Dalai Lama's methods there is a set of basic beliefs that act as a substrate for all his actions: a belief in the fundamental gentleness and goodness of all human beings, a belief in the value of compassion, a belief in a policy of kindness, and a sense of commonality among all living creatures." After reading this my negativity came out a little and I began thinking that by trusting and believing that all human beings are good would open a door to pain and a lot of broken trust. This lead to a conversation with my older brother whom said that in technicality the statement is true humans are good, or at least they have the ability and potential to do good, they just choose not to. And I believe it's the same thing with change and happiness. For some stupid reason we choose to remain unhappy, when in part there are things we can do to have a less stressful, happier life.
My mentor Tai Lopez once said in one of his videos that we should train our brains into realizing that it's okay to remove any negativity in our lives and to deprive ourselves of things that we DO NOT need. An unhealthy friendship or relationship, a job that we have to go to everyday that we absolutely despise, or an unwanted bully. Why, do we choose to remain in negativity. Why, do we choose to make our lives harder than they already have to be. If you're in an unhealthy relationship (of any kind) drop them, there are better people in this world that you can waste your time and emotions on. You go to work every day and you feel the stress build up on your shoulders, quit. Yes, finding a job isn't easy but I'm pretty sure putting up with your current job is harder. You have someone who constantly harasses you with their words and fists, fight back, what goes around comes around right. When I was being bullied in high school I hit back harder than they ever hit me and they never bothered me again, because mostly they're all talk no action, so face the fear and do what your teachers don't - and stop them.
If you want things to change in your life, you must change them, Tai explained that we choose to remain in our current states because we struggle to see a silver lining, but guess what, there is one. Whether you see one or not there is one. Eventually things will change, they have to, the world doesn't stop moving, your problems will move to. Why not speed up the process and move them yourselves. I understand that there are certain things in our lives that cannot be changed, or that have to occur and we have to learn to deal with it. But even then we handle our problems the wrong way, we find negativity in all the problems that head our way instead of realizing that one day you'll look back and realize that it was nothing but a moment, and you'll see how far you've come. You'll realize that you wasted your time worrying more than you had to. You'll see that you wasted energy on an issue that won't matter in a few years. Don't be afraid to face your demons, they're preventing you from reaching your potential and fullness of life. Rewire your brains as Tai suggested and make your lives a little easier.
